The hit TV show Fat Friends from award-winning national treasure Kay Mellor (Band of Gold, The Syndicate and In The Club) is bursting onto the stage in a brand new musical, with original music by Nick Lloyd Webber.
Join the infamous group of Leeds’ most loveable characters as they are put through their Zumba paces at the Headingley branch of Super Slimmers by the lovelorn Lauren whilst Kelly fantasises about fitting in to the wedding dress of her dreams.
Packed full of warmth, life and weight loss, this new stage show reunites our favourite foodie friends in an eagerly anticipated musical brimming with hope, humour and heart.
With a star cast including West End favourite and winner of the BBC’s I’d Do Anything, Jodie Prenger, X Factor winner, Sam Bailey, star of Emmerdale and The Royal, Natalie Anderson and, making his stage debut, cricket legend Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff, Fat Friends The Musical is a feel-good night out for every body and is set to be a HUGE hit!
Tuck in to Leeds’ very own musical as it stages its World Première at the city’s Grand Theatre.

The role of Alan, a working-class ambulance driver, who loves his food and struggles with his weight, will ideally be filled by a Yorkshire male, aged 30 to 55-years-old from any ethnic background. Singing range must be bass/baritone and applicants need to be available from Monday 2nd October 2017 to Saturday 9th June 2018.

Kay said: “I am very much looking to cast the role of Alan with a man who is born and bred Yorkshire. I’m hoping to find somebody with a strong Yorkshire accent, who can sing as well as act. I know we have real talent in this county so I’m hoping it will spark the interest of many budding or established actors living in Yorkshire.”
Any would-be ‘Alans’ are invited to send a CV and image to Stephen Crockett, Casting Director, at Ella@grindrodcasting.co.uk by Friday 18th August. Final auditions will take place at Leeds Grand Theatre on Friday 1st September. Please note that not all applicants will be invited to audition.
